In 1885, Dragátsis and Dörpfeld excavated remains of ten
ship-sheds on land in the eastern part of the harbour.
According to Dragátsis , architectural remains of the ship-sheds
could be seen in the water early in the morning, when the weather
was calm, but in the archaeological report, he only provides the length
of the slipway to the shoreline -- the 37.29 m which was used as a
primary calculation for the overall length of the reconstruction of
the trireme Olympias.
